Five USJE members from Pacific Region to represent USJE at PSAC Bargaining Conference

More than 30 USJE members, USJE National President David Neufeld, Regional Vice Presidents Kirsty Havard, Zoe Johnston and Jeff Sandelli and staff participated in the Pacific Regional Training in Vancouver, November 5-6, and held a spirited rally at the Department of Justice.

RVP Havard and RVP Sandelli kicked off day one with an introduction to the process involved in joining the PSAC Collective Bargaining Team. Alex (Vital) Stuit, regional representative from PSAC, expanded on the process and details.

The group then hopped on a bus to 840 Howe Street for a rally at the Department of Justice. With support from PSAC BC Regional Executive Vice President, Jamey Mills, along with members who work at that worksite, the demonstrators stood against the one-size-fits-none return to office mandate introduced by Treasury Board in September.

The afternoon session consisted of participants splitting into breakout groups and reviewing and proposing new bargaining demands. After continuing the process into day two, participants proceeded with the prioritization process by motivating on specific demands.

To wrap up the bargaining training, elections were held for representatives to attend the PSAC National Bargaining Conference in February 2025. 5 members were elected as delegates, and 5 as alternates:

TC: Nicole Reemeyer and Alternate Marina Mather
PA: Laura Wildly and Shannon Boudreau and the 1st and 2nd alternates: Krista Tebbutt and Melissa Vogler
SV: Bonnie Boyd, Alan Otrosina, and 1st and 2nd alternates: Garth Krieger and Gavin Lengert

Thank you to our participants, PSAC representative and USJE staff for ensuring a successful event. USJE’s next regional training conference for the Prairies Region takes place November 13-14 in Edmonton.
