On October 8-9, twenty USJE members from the Atlantic Region participated in a bargaining training conference in Moncton, NB.
Led by RVPs Lynette Robinson, Laurie Ann Wesselby and Carol Osborne with support from USJE and PSAC Staff, the conference focused on how the PSAC bargaining process works, including training on strategy and collective bargaining. Participants also learned about the prioritization of bargaining demands, and determined the top 25 demands for the Region.
Most importantly, the conference encouraged members to volunteer to run for positions on PSAC’s bargaining teams. The Region elected two SV members, Brett Wood and Lorna Thorburn, and two PA members, Michelle Martin and Caroline Morais-Gregan as delegates to the PSAC Bargaining Conference in February, 2025. Annie Thériault and Chayleigh Arsenault were elected as alternates.
On October 8, the group held a rally in front of the office of Liberal MP, Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor in opposition to the three-day in-office mandate enforced by Treasury Board at the beginning of September. The Minister’s office confirmed a follow up meeting will take place with USJE representatives to discuss concerns around the mandate. Share your concern by sending a letter to Treasury Board President, Minister Anita Anand.
USJE’s next regional training conference for the Ontario Region takes place October 16-17 in Ottawa.
