Union of Safety and Justice Employees holds rally to scrap the three-day in-person mandate
The Union of Safety and Justice Employees (USJE), alongside members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) – as well as allies – will be holding a rally in front of Treasury Board building in Ottawa with a strong message to “Scrap the Mandate.”
National Public Service Week
Every June, the Government of Canada marks National Public Service week. On the occasion of this year’s National Public Service Week, the Union of Safety and Justice Employees (alongside other components of the Public Service Alliance of Canada) are celebrating the invaluable work that federal public service employees undertake every day for the safety and security of Canadians.
Disability Insurance for USJE Members
Since July 1, 2023, health insurance benefits for USJE members and their dependents are provided by Canada Life. However, it is important to remember that this move to Canada Life does not include Disability Insurance which remains with SunLife.
PSAC National Convention Wraps Up
PSAC’s National Triennial Convention concluded today at noon after a week of intense debate and votes. An impressive list of 32 resolutions has been voted on by the delegates, a remarkable number by any count.
Sharon DeSousa Elected National President on Day 4 of PSAC Convention
The first item of the day were the elections for the position of National President and National Executive Vice President. For the position of National President, the declared candidates were Sharon DeSousa and Alisha Campbell while Patrick Bourassa was nominated from the floor. Sharon DeSousa was successful in her bid, winning the PSAC presidency on the first ballot
Day Three of PSAC National Triennial Convention 2024: USJE raises the issue of job security for union elected officials
It is day 3 of PSAC’s National Triennial Convention. Prior to the commencement of business, USJE members officially welcomed guests and observers in attendance and provided them with promotional materials for the “Union Job Security” campaign promoted by National President David Neufeld which was the object of a point of privilege raised in the first part of the morning.
