USGE’s Presentation to the Parliamentary Committee on Public Safety

On Tuesday, May 17th at 11:00 AM, USGE’s National President and Vice President, Stan Stapleton and David Neufeld, made a presentation on Parliament Hill to the Government of Canada’s Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security. This committee launched a study earlier this year to examine the issue of operational stress injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder among Canada’s public safety workers. The Committee was visibly moved by Stan and David’s stories and descriptions of our members’ experiences with stress and trauma on the job. Stan and David received many interesting questions that were clearly sympathetic to USGE members. In the coming weeks, the Committee will be making its final report to parliament. USGE will be reviewing the contents of this report carefully.
