The USJE Communications department was awarded the Best National Campaign Award at this year’s Canadian Association of Labour Media (CALM) Conference!
USJE was recognized for our Presumptive Injury campaign, a major outreach effort to Members of Parliament and Cabinet Ministers to close the gap in the Government Employee Compensation Act (GECA). This campaign to extend coverage for presumptive injury to all public safety employees has mobilized the USJE membership across the country and led to a Private Member’s Bill (C-357) being tabled in September 2023.
Megan Yeadon accepted the award on behalf of the communications team at Edmonton’s historic Château Lacombe hotel on June 8.
CALM is an organization that aims to strengthen the capacities of unions in Canada to broadcast their message.
