USJE’s National Triennial Convention begins this week in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador

There is excitement in the air in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, as preparations are finalized to welcome 159 delegates and 16 observers from across Canada to USJE’s 18th National Triennial Convention.

USJE’s Convention, which will run Tuesday, October 26 to Friday, October 29, has been delayed for nearly 18 months due to COVID so delegates are excited to get back on the Convention floor to make key decisions for the union.

After significant discussion and planning, USJE has put in place safety protocols that exceed provincial requirements. Everyone coming to Newfoundland for the Convention are double vaccinated, and USJE has put strong masking and cleaning protocols into place.

During Convention, one of the key issues will be the selection of a new National President, as Stan Stapleton, USJE’s National President for the past seven years, retires. Elections for Regional Vice Presidents will also happen during Convention.

Members can follow the election process and results, by joining our Facebook live stream on Thursday Oct 28th  at 7:30 a.m ET.
