On June 13, National President David Neufeld, National Vice-President Lynette Robinson and members of the USJE communications team completed the final leg of the Atlantic RCMP site tour in St. John’s, Newfoundland. They were warmly welcomed by our USJE RCMP members at the two locations visited: Canadian Firearms Program and B Division Headquarters.
The first stop of the day was at the Canadian Firearms Program in St. John’s. During the visit, President Neufeld and Vice-President Robinson shared information relating to USJE’s ongoing RCMP awareness campaign, Serving Together. USJE thanks all members who chose to participate in the campaign by sharing the important work they do. The team gained a deeper understanding of the role our members in this program play as Firearms Agents, Firearms Officers, Business Analysts, and more. It was enlightening to see the connections between work done by our members at the Miramichi Firearms Program, which the delegation visited earlier in the week, and the specialized roles that deal directly with clients at the St. John’s site. USJE thanks Local 90007 President Caitlin Clendenning and Chief Firearms Officer Jeffrey Reynolds for facilitating our site visit.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited B Division RCMP Headquarters, perched in the Pleasantville area of St. John’s overlooking Quidi Vidi Lake. The team toured the building and spoke with several members who work in a wide variety of important roles for the RCMP. The team gained a greater appreciation for the breadth and depth of work our members do in Newfoundland. USJE thanks all the members of Local 90001 who provided valuable contributions to the RCMP campaign, and we look forward to sharing with all Canadians the essential role our members play in keeping Canadians safe.
USJE also thanks Local 90001 President Matthew Windsor andHuman Resources Manager Kelly Ilijanicfor their assistance in organizing the site visit.
Future visits for the RCMP Campaign site tour are being planned for Manitoba and Halifax later in 2025. Dates have yet to be determined. If you are a USJE member who works for the RCMP and are interested in participating in the RCMP Serving Together campaign, please reach out to the USJE Communications team. We would love to learn about your work!
