The team from USJE and PSAC continued touring RCMP workplaces in the Edmonton area on August 12 to promote the joint campaign AlbertansForRCMP. The union representatives and staff met with USJE members who work in RCMP detachments located in the communities of Lac La Biche, Bonnyville and St. Paul.
In the morning, the group began by touring the Lac La Biche detachment. The four USJE members who were on site appreciated to hear firsthand from both USJE and PSAC elected officials. The members shared their experience of working in a remote detachment that is also a designated bilingual detachment. USJE would like to thank the members for the guided tour and their participation in the ServingTogether campaign.

To begin the afternoon, the USJE-PSAC delegation met with two USJE members at the Bonnyville detachment. The members were engaged and asked a lot of questions pertaining to the bargaining process. Marianne Hladun, PSAC REVP for the Prairie Region, explained in detail the role of PSAC as a bargaining agent. USJE would like to thank these members for staying informed and for sharing their stories as part of the ServingTogether campaign.
To conclude the day, the team made a final stop at the St. Paul detachment located in the Division’s Eastern Alberta District Office. This detachment had two USJE members on site during the visit and committed to sharing the AlbertansForRCMP campaign material with their friends and community partners.
The leadership heard firsthand from the members who expressed immense pride in working for the RCMP. It was a perfect opportunity to discuss the ServingTogether campaign and the important role USJE members play as the backbone of the RCMP.
Members were reminded that there are several ways in which they can defend their job:
- Send this email to your local provincial politician;
- Setup a meeting with your local politician and contact USJE to obtain your lobby kit and leave behind; or
- Schedule a meeting with the USJE Communications Team to showcase the work you do for the RCMP.
