USJE members honoured with Governor General Commendation for Bravery

USJE Members at Henry Traill CCC – CSC Community Ontario Local 00078 Laura Holthus, Parole Officer Supervisor, and Kerri-Lynn Graham, Reintegration Worker have been recognized as distinguished recipients of the Governor General Commendation for Bravery.

This recognition was in response to their crucial intervention during the tragic shooting on the grounds of Collins Bay Institution and Henry Traill CCC on March 24, 2023

On behalf of USJE Regional Vice President Carol Osborne and USJE Local President, James Doughty, we are proud to recognize and congratulate Ms. Holthus and Ms. Graham on this honour.  An intervention such as this one was clearly very challenging—and will have lasting impacts on USJE’s members.

We thank all of USJE’s members for their work day in and out to keep Canadians safe. This is why USJE’s Presumptive Injury Campaign is so important: it seeks to ensure that all of USJE’s federal Public Safety Personnel have access to Workers’ Compensation for psychological injuries incurred while on duty.
