USJE visits RCMP D Division, Firearms and Selkirk Detachment and Manitoba East District offices as part of RCMP Campaign visits in Manitoba

On March 16, USJE National President David Neufeld, Regional Vice President Heather McKinnon and members of USJE’s Communications team visited RCMP sites in the Winnipeg, MB area. Manitoba is the last province that the team will visit as part of USJE’s Serving Together RCMP campaign.

The day started with a quick visit to interview a member with a unique position in Stores, then to D Division headquarters in Winnipeg. Labour Relations led a brief tour through departments where USJE members work.

While the Communications team interviewed members participating in the Serving Together campaign, President Neufeld and RVP McKinnon met with D Division Commanding Officer Scott McMurchy. USJE shared a comprehensive update on the Serving Together campaign with the CO. The dialogue pursues as they covered topics such as staffing and challenges facing staffing and limitations to the current building of D Division HQ.

To begin the afternoon, the team made their way to the Canadian Firearms Centre in Winnipeg to document their work part of the Serving Together campaign. To end the day, the delegation made their way to the Selkirk Detachment which shares office space with the Manitoba East District Offices and were provided a tour of the facility.

USJE would like to thank the USJE members at D Division, Firearms, Selkirk Detachment and Manitoba East District Office, who shared their personal experiences as employees of the RCMP both informally and those that will be part of USJE’s national RCMP campaign. Approved by the RCMP’s National Labour Relations team, the campaign aims to bring awareness about the unique roles and work done by our members.
