On the occasion of this 6th anniversary, USJE extends its sincere condolences to all those affected by the Portapique tragedy. We seek to continue to do our part to address gender based violence through our National Equity Committee, training of our union’s leadership and related efforts.
National Public Safety Award winners 2026
At an awards ceremony on April 15, 2026, seven USJE members took centre stage in Ottawa to represent our union and the hard work our members accomplish.
USJE objects to the elimination of the Community Employment Coordinator position within the Correctional Service of Canada given potential risks to Public Safety
April 8, 2026: Community Employment Coordinators (CECs) have served as specialized reintegration federal employees within the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). They are responsible for connecting federally supervised offenders to employment opportunities, coordinating employer relationships, and supporting case management teams in managing employment-related risk factors.
National President visits Edmonton Institution
On April 1, 2026, National President David Neufeld and Regional Vice-President Zef Ordman conducted a site visit of Edmonton Institution (EI). This was President Neufeld’s first visit to Edmonton Institution and presented an opportunity to meet with several members of the USJE Local Executive (Local 31068), many USJE members throughout the institution, and members of EI’s management team.
RVP Osborne and Local President Doughty visit Cornwall Parole Office
On April 1 2026, RVP Carol Osborne and Local President James Doughty visited the Cornwall Parole Office, one of the worksites represented by USJE Local 00078.
RVP Osborne Attends Local AGM in Kingston, Ontario
On March 30, 2026, RVP Carol Osborne attended the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of USJE Local 00143 in Kingston, Ontario. The meeting was held in person, with some members also joining virtually.
RVPs Osborne and Wesselby Visit CORCAN Community Industries in Moncton, NB
On March 26, 2026, following a USJE information picket that was part of a cross-Canada mobilization event, RVPs Laurie Ann Wesselby and Carol Osborne attended the CORCAN Community Industries site in Moncton, NB. This marked RVP Osborne’s first visit of the CORCAN site.
RVPs Johnston and Havard visit RCMP E Division HQ
On March 9, 2026, REVP Jamey Mills, USJE RVPs Zoe Johnston and Kirsty Havard, along with PSAC Regional Representative Alex Vital Stuit, acting President of Local 20011 Tracy Zylyk and Mike Reeves from CSC, joined 30 public service employees and civilian members for an Information Gathering Lunch and Learn, at the RCMP E Division Headquarters in Surrey, British Columbia.
