On Tuesday, March 17, USJE National President David Neufeld and RVP Heather McKinnon were joined by two members of the USJE Communications team to visit RCMP worksites in the Manitoba East District as part of the Serving Together campaign.
The team visited Powerview detachment in the morning, located roughly 90 minutes north-east of Winnipeg. The detachment has five Detachment Services Assistants (DSAs) who also provide support to Bloodvein River First Nation. USJE shared information about the Serving Together campaign and interviewed one member at this site.
The next stop was Lac Du Bonnet—the detachment has one full-time and two part-time DSAs. One DSA also provides support to remote detachments across the province, and was in Thompson when the team visited. USJE would like to thank Commander Cory Myers for his heartwarming welcome, and to our member who took the time to conduct an interview.
For the last site visit of the day, the team headed to the RCMP detachment in Beausejour and met with the one DSA and municipal employee. USJE was given a tour of the detachment and had a positive, one-on-one discussion with our member.
USJE would like to thank the USJE members who shared their personal experiences as employees of the RCMP both informally and those that will be part of USJE’s national RCMP campaign. Approved by the RCMP’s National Labour Relations team, the campaign aims to bring awareness about the unique roles and work done by our members. RCMP public servants and CMs can participate by reaching out to the USJE Communications team at USJEcommunicationSESJ@psac-afpc.com.
USJE heads west on Wednesday, with site visits scheduled at Portage la Prairie, Souris and Brandon.
