On March 26, USJE members from across the country took part in mobilization events to bring attention to Workforce Adjustments currently taking place in the federal public service.
USJE RVPs led the actions at each location:
- Stony Mountain Institution (Winnipeg, MB)
- RCMP Sherwood Park (Sherwood Park, AB)
- CSC and PBC Regional HQ (Moncton, NB)
- Matsqui/Pacific and Fraser Valley Institution (Abbotsford, BC)
- La Macaza Institution (La Macaza, QC)
- Department of Public Safety (Ottawa, ON)
Workforce adjustment (WFA) is a process for reducing indeterminate positions in the core federal public service and agencies. The process was negotiated by PSAC with your employer as an important job protection measure.
Affected members will face various scenarios linked to different paths and outcomes. If you are given an affected notice, there are several options. We recognize that WFA requires members to make difficult choices, and the choice depends on the individual’s circumstances.
PSAC’s Workforce Adjustment Guide for members is a crucial document for USJE members to understand the WFA process. It is imperative that you review it to understand all of your options.
USJE recommends that members consult the PSAC WFA resources and/or contact their Regional Vice-President before agreeing to any changes in their terms and conditions of employment.
