Members of USJE Local 80073 from the Halifax Parole Office gathered at the Peace and Friendship Centre to celebrate Labour Day alongside fellow union members and members of the broader labour movement.
The event was truly a family affair, with children joining their parents and even beloved four-legged family members taking part in the festivities with their pet parents. The celebration provided an opportunity to connect with colleagues, families, and community members while recognizing the contributions of working people.
Events like these remind us that our union community extends far beyond the workplace. They are a celebration of solidarity, connection, family, and the collective strength that comes from standing together in support of workers and the communities we serve. Those same themes are highlighted in PSAC’s Labour Day message, Labour Day 2026: Solidarity is our Strength, which recognizes the importance of supporting one another.
As we look ahead, let’s carry the spirit of Labour Day forward by staying engaged, supporting one another, and working together to ensure strong public services and protections for workers.
