National President Neufeld, RVP Johnston and members of the USJE Communications Team tour E Division HQ in Surrey and Post Garage and PRTC in Chilliwack

On July 23, the USJE delegation visited members employed by the RCMP as part of USJE’s National RCMP Campaign that aims to highlight the important roles provided by USJE members.

The day kicked off at E Division Headquarters in Surrey, with a brief meet and greet with Superintendent Greg Leong, Chief Superintendent Mark LePage, and the Labour Relations team. Jason Jaschinsky, Manager of the Information Management and Technology branch, also took time to speak with the USJE representatives about the importance of the work done by Public Service Employees (PSEs). Labour Relations representative Mable Threadkell provided a tour of the site, and the Communications team interviewed five USJE members working in different PSE roles.

In the afternoon, the group headed east on Highway 1 to visit Post Garage and the Pacific Regional Training Centre (PRTC) in Chilliwack, with Mable Threadkell and Victoria Kozar from the Labour Relations team facilitating. Matthew Desai, Post Garage Manager, arranged for a quick meeting with all union members on site, where President Neufeld and RVP Johnston were able to speak about the RCMP Campaign and the role of the union. Seven members stepped forward to participate in the Campaign. The team then headed across the street to the PRTC and interviewed another three members working as PRIME technical training instructors.

USJE thanks Lucky Bal, Regional Manager, Public Service Labour Relations Human Resources Branch who assisted in planning the week’s visits and Mable Threadkill and Victoria Kozar who provided the tours.
