NDP Québec Lieutenant reaches out to USJE over Westmount Local

RVP Andréanne Samson discussed with NDP MP Alexandre Boulerice the decision by management to withdraw the union hall from USJE members at the RCMP’s C Division in Westmount.

Mr. Boulerice, MP for Rosemont – La Petite Patrie and his political party’s Quebec lieutenant, contacted USJE himself to inquire about progress on the file.

RVP Samson explained that USJE believes that the removal of the union space was in retaliation for the federal public service strike in spring 2023. She added that, unfortunately, numerous attempts to reach Commissioner Duheme by National President David Neufeld to discuss this decision directly has resulted in no dialogue and no action. RVP Samson deplored Commissioner Duheme’s refusal to respond to the National President of the second largest union within the RCMP which represents approximately 7000 federal public service employees.

Mr. Boulerice expressed his solidarity with our Westmount members who are now denied access to a crucial union office by C Division managers. Mr. Boulerice intends to activate a number of parliamentary mechanisms to ensure progress on this issue when Parliament resumes on Monday, September 18.
