Nominations for the Exemplary Service Award and Human Rights Award now open

Once every three years, USJE turns to Local executives with a call out for nominations for the Exemplary Service Award and Human Rights Award. That time is now!

The Exemplary Service Award has been a staple of USJE’s drive to recognize and publicize the accomplishment of its membership. It is an awards program honouring a Local volunteer member who has provided outstanding contributions to the well-being of their Local or region.

The Human Rights Award aims to recognize and honour a significant contribution to the protection and strengthening of human rights in Canadian society. Upholding human rights is an ongoing challenge, even in a country like Canada where citizens can rely on the rule of law and due process. Canada’s track record in human rights is constantly improved by actions taken by individuals whose selflessness, courage and unshakable belief in the inherent worth of others makes them do the right thing.

Such commitment needs to be recognized.

Therefore, Local executives are invited to consider candidates for both awards and submit them to their respective RVPs.

The procedure for nominations is described in the regulations handbook. The current rules for the Exemplary Award are extended, as stated, to the Human Rights Award.

This is an open call, the deadline for nominations is April 26, 2024. A member may only receive any given award once. USJE will announce the recipients of the Exemplary Service Award and the Human Rights Award at a presentation during the triennial National Local President’s meeting in 2024.
