USGE’s 17th Triennial National Convention kicked off yesterday, on Tuesday, July 11th, with over 170 delegates, and nearly 30 observers and guests in attendance.
Highlights of the first day included:
➢ The 3 year report from our National President, Stan Staplenton, in which he noted the many accomplishments made by our Union in addition to the challenges that lie ahead.
➢ An address from PSAC’s dynamic National President, Robyn Benson.
➢ Recognition of the amazing work and dedication of three outgoing Regional Vice Presidents who are retiring. USGE’s sincere thanks go to Danielle Belleau, Jan Hauck, and Debbi Stangrecki for their many years of dedicated service to USGE members!
➢ Adoption of the reports submitted by all 16 Regional Vice-Presidents
➢ Delegates also had the chance to hear from USGE’s Director of Finance and Administration as well as from USGE’s Department of Policy, Programs and Media. In this last presentation, Delegates had the opportunity to view (or re-view) some of USGE’s recent innovative and short videos.
Overall, the mood of Convention is optimistic. We’re all looking forward to the next few days.
