On Friday January 20, 2023 a long time USJE member, colleague and friend to many, Janice Froats passed away unexpectedly.
Janice was a Parole Office at Millhaven Institution and fulfilled numerous roles at various sites within the ‘Kingston corridor’ during her decades long career with the Correctional Service of Canada when she acted as a Manager of Assessment and Intervention for the sexual offenders’ program.
Everywhere along the way Janice forged friendships and collegial working relationships with those she encountered. Janice’s friendly smile and collaborative approach will be missed by those who knew her.
Janice is survived by her husband Sean, also a Correctional Service of Canada employee, their four children, her parents and siblings. A family friend has established a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the unexpected expenses for Sean and the children. USJE Locals and USJE members have donated to this initiative as well as contributed in other ways to lend support to Janice’s family during this difficult time.
