RVP Carol Osborne and Local 90098 President Roger Duffy visited members at the Corner Brook Parole Office and the Stephenville Parole Office in the West Coast Correctional Centre on September 5. After touring the worksites and meeting with members, other members from across the Province had the chance to join a hybrid meeting. Local President Duffy gave an update regarding the process and next steps planned for the upcoming round of bargaining. He reminded members of the importance of submitting demands to better inform the process and warned of the various deadlines. He also mentioned the upcoming Bargaining Training and Conference.
RVP Osborne emphasized to members the importance of USJE’s Presumptive Injury Campaign. She proudly showed the new custom made pin she herself was wearing that aims to bring attention to Presumptive Injury and will be distributed to all Members of Parliament on Mental Health Day on October 10th. RVP Osborne encouraged members to review Bill C-357 and to meet with their Members of Parliament to discuss the campaign.
RVP Osborne also spoke on the TBS Mandate for the increased presence in the office and the mobilization efforts by the USJE and the PSAC.
In typical Newfoundland fashion, members were remarkably welcoming and engaged during the visits.
