RVP Osborne visits North-Western New Brunswick

RVP Carol Osborne attended the Edmundston Parole Office for Local 60074’s AGM and site visit on January 30, 2026. Members participated both in-person and virtually from across New Brunswick and PEI.

Elections were held for the Local Executive during the meeting. Congratulations to the following members who stepped forward to continue in leadership roles:

  • Annie Thériault was re-elected Local President;
  • Heather Oldroyd was re-elected as Vice President;
  • Spencer Farrell and Hélène St-Onge were also re-elected as Shop Stewards

While no nominations were received for the Secretary/Treasurer position during the meeting, several members expressed interest and submitted nominations afterward. RVP Osborne noted how proud she was of her “old Local” and commended the Executive for their strong member engagement. Despite the challenges of representing a geographically dispersed Local across two provinces, more than half of the membership attended the AGM.

RVP Osborne also chaired the elections for the Delegates and Alternates to the USJE National Triennial Convention and the PSAC Atlantic Regional Convention, both taking place this summer.

Local President Thériault provided a financial update and shared information on PA bargaining, directing members to the PSAC and USJE websites for ongoing updates. She also highlighted upcoming Public Safety Awards, a recent town hall hosted by USJE’s National President, and promoted the USJE podcast, The Union Safety Net.

Members raised questions about the Comprehensive Expenditure Review and the town hall held the day before with the District Director. President Thériault and RVP Osborne explained that while the employer may proceed with Workforce Adjustments, important protections are in place to support affected members. RVP Osborne emphasized the importance of making informed decisions, noting that the WFA Appendix was negotiated into the Collective Agreement specifically to protect members’ rights. She reaffirmed that the Union will continue to provide support and guidance.

RVP Osborne and President Thériault thanked members for attending and engaging over the lunch period. The Local Executive was also congratulated and thanked for their continued work on behalf of USJE and its members.
