Sharon DeSousa Elected National President on Day 4 of PSAC Convention  

Thursday May 30th – The final full day of debate and votes ended today at the Shaw Center.  

The first item of the day were the elections for the position of National President and National Executive Vice President. For the position of National President, the declared candidates were Sharon DeSousa and Alisha Campbell while Patrick Bourassa was nominated from the floor. Sharon DeSousa was successful in her bid, winning the PSAC presidency on the first ballot with the following results: 

Sharon DeSousa: 355 
Alisha Campbell: 175 
Patrick Bourassa: 35 

As for the National Executive Vice President, three members were seeking the election: Alex Silas, Wendy-Ann Moulton and Amanda Wakeford. The results were as follows: 

Alex Silas: 418 
Wendy-Ann Moulton 44 
Amanda Wakeford 104 

A video paying tribute to Chris Aylward, outgoing National President, was shown and several union members went to the microphone to pay tribute to Aylward. 

During the lunch hour, participants took to the streets to defend Canada’s Public Health Care system. Canada’s public health care system is part of the national fabric and unifies our great country. We will defend it.

NEGO-022A FPSLRA – NOTICE TO BARGAIN & PUBLIC INTEREST COMMISSION (creates $0.01 dues increase per member/per month)

The following resolutions were defeated:
