Statement to our members concerning recent tragedy in Saskatchewan

USJE offers its deepest sympathies to all those directly and indirectly affected by the tragic and disturbing events unfolding in Saskatchewan since Sunday. We offer our thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted by this devastating situation.

As the federal public service union representing many of the members employed by Correctional Services Canada, the Parole Board of Canada, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, we recognize that these tragic events will also have a devastating impact on many of USJE’s members and their families given that they work in the public safety portfolio. If you require assistance, or are asked to meet with management regarding these events, please contact your Regional Vice President.

If you or someone you know needs assistance, Wellness Together Canada is free and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for confidential mental health support. Call 1.866.585.0445 to talk to a mental health professional.

In events such as these, it is paramount that we demonstrate our support and caring for one another and do everything we can to prevent future tragedies from taking place.
