May 7th – Kristy McDougall and Jamie Sorestad were presented SACP Leadership Awards by the Honorable Tim McLeod, the Saskatchewan Minister of Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety, and Rhonda Blackmore RCMP F Division Assistant Commissioner at the Regimental Dinner held in Moose Jaw.
The awards were presented in recognition of the dedication and outstanding work undertaken in creating consistency for the roles of Detachment Services Assistants (DSAs) in detachments throughout Saskatchewan, as well as providing regular professional development and personal interaction opportunities for DSAs.
The pilot project began in January 2022, and addressed the lack of training, consistency, and support for RCMP DSAs across all 131 detachments in the province. McDougall and Sorestad helped define the position by correcting longstanding issues and made a lasting positive impact on operational efficiency. This pioneering work has been a monumental success and is gaining ground in other Provinces and Territories.
USJE National Vice-President Lynette Robinson and Regional Vice-Presidents Heather McKinnon, Valda Behrens, and Sonia O’Brien-Colterman made a surprise visit to congratulate Kristy and Jamie on their well-deserved awards. This required careful coordination on the part of the four USJE representatives who timed their presence in Moose Jaw. Their visit was a perfect opportunity for discussions with RCMP Deputy Commissioner Bryan Larkin, F Division Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore, and F Division Chief Superintendent Teddy Munro.
RVP McKinnon would like to reaffirm her most sincere congratulations to both Kristy and Jamie!
