On Wednesday June 7, USGE Local 20091 held a cake and coffee event in Abbotsford, BC, with apples and water for our more health conscious members, to encourage our members to boycott the government’s National Public Service Week – NPSW – (June 11 to 17, 2017). Local 20091 also provided information on the Bill C-27 and reminded our members that the employer has not yet signed our contracts.
The NPSW’s objective is to “recognize the value of the services rendered by federal public service employees” and to “acknowledge the contribution of federal public service employees to the federal administration.” Unfortunately thousands of public service workers, including many of USGE members, are still having significant troubles with Phoenix.
PSAC Regional Representative Jessica Kerek was also in attendance to support our boycott event.
Pictured above we have (from left) First Vice President Rahul Lal, President Kirsty Havard, Second Vice President Kerri Grzechnik and Shop Steward Lori Dixon.
USGE recognizes the dedication of its members who continue to work hard every day to keep Canadians safe, even as they suffer pay problems. They are standing together in denouncing the failures of the federal government pay system. Phoenix: enough is enough!
