USJE’s National Executive has unanimously adopted a motion to provide financial support to Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) members currently on strike at the Bank of Canada.
In solidarity with the Bank of Canada security guards exercising their right to collective action, the National Executive unanimously approved a donation of $20,000 from USJE’s unrestricted reserves to PSAC Directly Chartered Local 71250. The funds will be distributed among striking members as a one-time top-up payment to help support them during the labour dispute.
The Customs and Immigration Union (CIU) organized a rally while delegates were gathered for their national convention. Representatives from several PSAC components and locals joined the rally, standing alongside the striking workers and showing the strength of solidarity across the Alliance. It was during this event that the members of USJE’s National Executive presented the $20,000 cheque to the workers, personally conveying the union’s support and commitment to their cause.
USJE recognizes the challenges that strikes can place on workers and their families. This contribution reflects the union’s commitment to supporting fellow members of the labour movement and strengthening solidarity across our communities.
The National Executive extends its solidarity to the striking workers and hopes for fair and timely resolution to the dispute.
