Monday afternoon, USJE National President Stan Stapleton and USJE National Vice-President David Neufeld testified virtually before the House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Health (HESA). USJE was invited in the context of the Committee’s study on Canada’s response to COVID-19. Monday’s meeting was focused on the pandemic’s impacts on our federal correctional system.
Testifying during the same meeting were senior officials from the Correctional Service of Canada and the Parole Board of Canada, including Commissioner Anne Kelly. Catherine Latimer from the John Howard Society and Marlene Orr from the Native Counselling Services of Alberta also provided testimony to the all party committee made up of 12 Members of Parliament.
