USJE supports housing initiative for women and children who have experienced abuse

On Monday June 19th, on behalf of the Union of Safety and Justice Employees, RVP Andréanne Samson presented a cheque for $10,000 to Le Parados, a housing initiative in Montreal for women and children who have experienced abuse. This initiative will provide crucial transitional housing, supporting women and children as they shift from living in shelters to permanent housing.

This funding was made possible by USJE’s Community Investment Initiative.  When Le Parados first applied to the CII, they were looking for community partners who understood the vision and purpose of transitional housing in our local neighbourhoods, and who could help turn this vision into a reality. After significant consideration and review, USJE’s CII committee chose to support this important project.

Because USJE members keep Canadians safe – not just at work, but also in our day-to-day lives – we understand the value of keeping our own communities safe too.  This is the reason that USJE’s Community Investment Initiative was born. To date, USJE’s CII has proudly funded projects that alleviate poverty, provided vulnerable community members with mental health supports, and supported at-risk populations.
