On March 26, 2026, following a USJE information picket that was part of a cross-Canada mobilization event, RVPs Laurie Ann Wesselby and Carol Osborne attended the CORCAN Community Industries site in Moncton, NB. This marked RVP Osborne’s first visit of the CORCAN site.

The RVPs were welcomed by Melissa Sauvé, President of Local 60142. Local President Sauvé, along with CORCAN Instructor Jamie Henwood provided a tour of the facility. The visit was particularly timely, as CORCAN Employment Counsellor positions have recently been impacted by the Comprehensive Expenditure Review and are being eliminated as a result.

CORCAN provides individuals on conditional release with opportunities to gain training and work experience in areas such as shipping and inventory management. The warehouse facility employs up to 20 individuals on work release or parole, where they produce solid wood and plywood products, laminate and veneer office furniture, laminate and melamine kitchen cabinets, millwork, and custom wood furniture. These programs support the transition from institutional settings to employment in the community.
