RCMP Mental Health Strategy Advisory Group update

The RCMP Mental Health Strategy Advisory Group recently met, on January 16.

During this meeting, the group approved Terms of Reference, an Action Plan as well as a draft Strategy for what will ultimately be a five year project. USGE is the only public service bargaining agent representative on this committee, a relatively tight-knit group that will be dealing with heavy meeting schedules and tight response deadlines.

Robin Kers, USGE’s representative has stated that his goals will be to ensure that appropriate weight and attention will be given to public service employees examples, issues and concerns over mental health.

It is expected that the RCMP Commissioner will soon formally and publicly launch this project as well as name a champion.

The next meeting of the group is scheduled for February 20, 2014.
