On June 26, Regional Vice President Carol Osborne and Local President JR Legault visited the Durham Parole Office located in Oshawa, Ontario to meet with members of Local 00079. This was RVP Osborne’s first visit to the site, and she was pleased to meet with members. Among other things, RVP Osborne had been hearing about Occupational Health and Safety concerns and wanted to hear members’ perspectives.
RVP Osborne spoke about USJE’s upcoming CR Campaign and encouraged members to listen to USJE’s Podcast – the Union Safety Net. RVP Osborne and President Legault also spoke on the new work description for Case Management Assistants, now termed Administrative Support Assistants. They spoke about their disappointment with the many changes and omissions in the work description, including the title change, which minimize the important role that CR-04s play at CSC. RVP Osborne and Local President Legault will continue to speak forcefully with management on all issues raised.
At the end of their visit, RVP Osborne and Local President Legault thanked members for their welcome and for taking the time to connect with their union.
