USJE supporting communities in need

The labour movement has an important role in fighting the social and economic inequities that impact the lives of workers and people in Canada and around the world.

In addition to annual contributions and financial assistance already set out in USJE’s resolutions of record, the USJE occasionally provides financial support to organizations in areas such as education, health, and social services. Requests for funding and donations are reviewed by the National Executive.

Recently, USJE is pleased to have supported the following organizations and causes:

BC Red Cross – USJE donated $20,000 on November 22, 2021 to assist with providing relief to community members experiencing flooding and mudslides in BC.

CUPE New Brunswick Strike – USJE donated $5,000 on November 8, 2021 to support the New Brunswick Provincial employees strike.

Qajuqturvik Community Food Centre – USJE donated $10,000 on November 2, 2021 to assist in obtaining and distributing water and food supplies to the people of Iqaluit.
