USJE 2026 Convention slogan announced: Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers

Congratulations to Maureen Brennan from USJE Local 70165—Office of the Information Commissioner for submitting the winning entry in our convention slogan contest! The 2026 National Convention slogan is: Building Bridges, Breaking Barriers.

Maureen has won a $200 gift certificate to the USJE boutique and is invited to join us in Quebec City, QC as an observer for our 20th National Triennial Convention, July 13-17, 2026, all expenses paid.

The slogan reflects how our union seeks to foster relationships across partisan lines and continues to push for inclusive, progressive ideals.

The logo features the Quebec Bridge, which collapsed twice due to human error: in 1907, killing 75 workers; and again in 1916, killing 13 workers. Not even two weeks prior to the 1907 collapse, the unionized Ironworkers had gone on strike due to poor working conditions, but voted to return to work—a chilling lesson to prioritize workers’ health and safety. The iron rings earned and worn by Canadian engineers are a constant reminder of the Quebec Bridge disaster, and that they must always exercise humility in their work.

Thank you to Maureen for sharing her creativity with us, and we look forward to seeing her and all the delegates and observers at Convention in July.

Registration for Convention is open! Learn more and register no later than February 13, 2026.
