On Tuesday, February 13, the Union of Safety and Justice Employees hosted a breakfast reception on Parliament Hill to highlight the urgency of its proposed changes to the federal Government Employees Compensation Act (GECA).

Research Participants Needed for Research on the Mental Health and Wellbeing Experiences of Legal Support Staff
USJE is inviting legal assistants, clerks, and support staff from Justice Canada and PPSC to take part in a study about the stress they experience on the job. By participating in a one-hour interview, employees will help USJE advocate for improved mental health supports, reduced workloads and better compensation.

Taxability of Phoenix damages: Victory for members across the country
In a victory for PSAC members impacted by the Phoenix pay fiasco, PSAC has secured an agreement with the Canada Revenue Agency to treat up to $1,500 of the Phoenix general damages compensation members received in 2021 as non-taxable.
