The information picket was designed to inform members concerning the employer’s attacks against the current insurance regime and sick leave benefits. Surgical masks were distributed to USGE and PIPSC members. The masks were worn all day by the vast majority of members, symbolizing the employer’s demand that public service employees show up sick to work.

Today marked the true beginning of the USGE Convention. The day was split into two: the morning was dedicated to mandatory training for the delegates on Rules of Order.
16th National Triennial Convention kicks off in Montreal
Tonight saw delegates to USGE’s 16th National Triennial Convention congregating at the Westin Montreal. This evening was registration night, when members came together to pick up their delegate packages, meet new and old friends and start looking forward to setting the direction of our union for the next three years.
USGE members organize their own National Public Service Week celebrations
In keeping with past years, USGE members have boycotted National Public Service Week events organized by the employer, participating instead in their own or those of the PSAC.
Policy grievance against CSC scheduled
A year ago USGE informed our members about CSC’s plan to meet its cost savings by restructuring the way our members feed federal offenders. The implementation of the “cook/chill program” was one that would see our members not offered any salary protection.
