PSAC Files Policy Grievance in Response to Unilateral Demotion by CSC in SV Group
A Policy Grievance was filed by the PSAC at the request of the USJE following the CSC’s unilateral decision to remove entitlements to the Inmate Training Differential (ITD).

On October 17, National President David Neufeld and RVPs Heather McKinnon and Shauna Ward visited RCMP detachments in La Ronge and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and met with Detachment Services Assistants (DSAs) at each site.
Shelter Cost Differential: Help restore housing subsidy for northern homeowners
Take action – tell MPs that homeowners should continue to receive the subsidy. This financial support plays a key role in recruiting and retaining federal public service workers in northern communities.
National President meets with RCMP members in London

USJE Indigenous Roundtable
On Wednesday, September 20th, USJE convened a small Roundtable with USJE members who are Indigenous-identified employees and working within the federal Correctional system.
RVPs Patrick Ménard and Andréanne Samson in collaboration with Québec Region locals hosted the first-ever autumn wine and cheese event at the Cabaret de l’Avenir in Laval
This USJE event was the occasion for members from the Quebec region to connect with each other while meeting their colleagues from the public safety realm in a fun and exciting setting that celebrated the recent achievements of our union.
POCD training should be in-person and offered by external experts
Thanks to the over 350 Parole Officers, MAIs and Parole Officer Supervisors who completed USJE’s May 2023 survey, USJE has been able to gather some striking data regarding POCD training and workload. We are presently sharing this data with CSC and advocating for change.

On October 6, National President David Neufeld, RVP Bella Skalin and Local 00060 President Tracy Coates held a meet and greet with three USJE members from the RCMP detachment in Kitchener, ON. The intimate setting gave President Neufeld and RVP Skalin a unique opportunity to speak one-on-one with members.
