USGE Local 20091 boycotts National Public Service Week due to Phoenix
On Wednesday June 7, USGE Local 20091 held a cake and coffee event in Abbotsford, BC, with apples and water for our more health conscious members, to encourage our members to boycott the government’s National Public Service Week – NPSW – (June 11 to 17, 2017). Local 20091 also provided information on the Bill C-27 and reminded our members that the employer has not yet signed our contracts.

Congratulations Munashe Sithole, USGE scholarship winner
USGE RVP and Chair of USGE’s Scholarship Committee, Jan Hauck, presented one of USGE’s Louise Pargeter scholarships to the mother of a scholarship recipient. Sarudzai Mashazhu member of USGE Local 00089 was presented with the scholarship as well as with a USGE jacket, for her daughter Munashe Sithole.
Government delaying signing of new collective agreements
PSAC has been pushing the government to sign four collective agreements by the end of May, but the employer is insisting they won’t be ready until mid-June at the earliest. These agreements, covering over 100,000 workers, were ratified by the membership in votes that concluded in April.

USGE is currently examining the Auditor General’s report regarding mental health support for RCMP members. We will be paying particular attention to ensuring that the interests of USGE members are properly represented in the implementation of all of the report’s recommendations.
