Debate concerning the establishment of a USJE National Strike Fund was vigorous. USJE’s next National Triennial Convention will take place in Québec City in 2026.

National President David Neufeld was acclaimed for the 2023-2026 term, and received a heartfelt standing ovation for his service over the past 20 months. Regional caucuses also elected their RVPs for three year terms (2023-2026).

Day 2 – Finance report, budget, bylaws, and MP Peter Julian

The USJE National Triennial Convention officially began earlier this morning. 173 delegates from coast to coast to coast have arrived in Whistler, British-Columbia, on the ancestral land of the Squamish and Lil’wat nations.  

We request the immediate return of the union office to the members of the Local.

RVP Andréanne Samson visited the office of Anna Gainey, the new Member of Parliament for Notre-Dame-de-Grâce – Westmount, early this morning to inform her of the decision affecting members of Local 10004 who have had their union office taken away.

USJE has donated $5000 to the Red Cross to help those affected by the recent wildfires in Nova Scotia that destroyed or damaged more than 200 homes, and displaced 16,400 residents

Some 30 members of Local 10004 of the Union of Safety and Justice Employees (USJE) demonstrated in front of the offices of their employer, C Division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, to protest the withdrawal of the physical union office the Local has been using for over 15 years.
